Yalla Paddle

Austin, TX

Just a bunch of Arab Americans in Austin who wanted to find each other. We play pickleball, argue about the best hummus, and absolutely insist on feeding you.

Our Story

We're not an organization. We're not a brand. We're just a bunch of Arab Americans who wanted to find each other.

It started simply: a few of us in Austin who missed the feeling of being around our people. The loud dinners, the arguing over who pays the bill, the “yalla one more game” that turns into three. We missed it. So we built it.

What began as a WhatsApp group and a couple of pickleball games turned into something bigger than we expected. Potlucks where everyone's mom's recipe shows up. Game nights that go too late. Friendships between people from Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, Iraq, the Gulf, and everywhere in between — people who might never have crossed paths back home but feel like family here.

And then something else happened: people who aren't Arab started showing up. Friends of friends, coworkers, neighbors who said “I've always been curious about Arab culture but never had a way in.” So we made room at the table, because that's what Arabs do. Our door has always been open. If you want to learn a few words of Arabic, argue about the best hummus, or just play pickleball with people who will absolutely insist on feeding you afterwards — you belong here. You don't need to be Arab. You just need to be curious.

We partnered with a fellow Arab who owns pickleball courts because that's how we do things: we take care of our own, and we build together.

“You don't need to know how to play. You don't need to know anyone. You just need to show up. We'll handle the rest.”

Whether you're an Arab who just moved to Austin, someone who's been here for years and never found their people, or someone who simply wants to experience what Arab hospitality actually feels like: ahlan wa sahlan. You're home now.

What We Do

Pickleball is how it started. Everything else is why people stay.

Pickleball

Weekly open play at local courts. Never held a paddle? Perfect. We'll teach you and trash-talk you at the same time.

Potlucks & Gatherings

Everyone brings their mom's recipe. Iftar, Eid celebrations, or just a random Tuesday where someone made too much mansaf.

Social Outings

Hikes, dinners, game nights. The kind where "one more round" turns into three and nobody wants to leave.

New to Austin?

Just moved and don't know anyone? We've all been that person. Show up once and you'll leave with ten new friends and a full stomach.
